Hy, everybody. I bought two PS-600, one for my wife, another for me. We made the decision of buying this e-reader based on the quantity of formats we coulded read with it: TXT, PDF, EPUB... We have two weeks with equipment in hands and now we know it is not that good for reading. Why?
1. The screen makes uncontable reflections of light and sometimes you have to find angles so you can read.
2. Battery life is short. Two hours of reading kills the energy soon.
3. Pages turn too slow.
4. Sometimes, it freezes. I have had to reset the unit 3 times in two weeks. One time my wife. The page you are reading get still and you can do nothing but to reset the reader punching a little hole it has in the bottom.
5. It is not as light as we expected and you have the feeling that it could be useless if you let it fall 2 or 3 feet high.
6. Maybe because of the scales of gray it has, the screen is too dark and the text too light. If you want to read for real you will have zoom the letters at M or L size. The visibility shoulded be better.
But here are some pros:
1. You can write notes over and all around the text you read.
2. You can write memos.
3. You can make book collections.
4. You can read lots of formats.
5. You can add SD cards and save all the books of world.
6. You can add pictures and music.

Saludos. Decidí comprar el Sony Reader por la cantidad de formatos en los que me era posible leer. En cuanto a esa flexibilidad no he tenido ningún problema ni me quejo. Sin embargo, el equipo tiene bastantes debilidades que deberán ser corregidas en las próximas versiones del PS-600 que es modelo que adquirí:
1. La pantalla del PS-600 brilla demasiado, hay que tomarse su tiempo para encontrar un ángulo en el cual se pueda leer sin reflejos ni brillos. Ya había leído este comentario antes pero no hice mucho caso. Sin embargo, es así, es cierto. Compré dos equipos, uno para mi esposa y otro para mí, por lo que puedo afirmar con certeza que no es sólo el mío el que llegó con ese problema.
2. La batería tiene poca vida. Dos horas de lectura consume, en algunas ocasiones, más de la mitad de la energía, aún si está completamente cargado al inicio. Este detalle me ha disgustado bastante. Además, cuando se está cargando no se puede leer, por lo que tiene usted que esperar una, dos o más horas hasta conseguir que se carge por completo.
3. Se friza. Me ha pasado en tres ocasiones durante las dos semanas que llevo con el PS-600: la imagen se queda fija, se paraliza y no se puede hacer absolutamente nada que no sea resetear la unidad. Tiene usted que tomar un objeto agudo e introducirlo por un pequeño agujero que posee la unidad en la parte baja. Haciendo eso la unidad de reinicia. Debo decir que le ha pasado tanto a mi esposa como a mi.
4. Las páginas cambian en un pestañeo lento, largo. A veces demasiado lento.
5. El equipo se siente algo pesado. Verdaderamente creí que sería mucho más liviano en manos.
6. Por ser pesadito y metalizado en toda su coraza usted, inmediatamente lo tiene en manos, se da cuenta de que el PS-600 no podrá dejarlo caer en ningún momento sin que se dañe. Claro, usted compra un lector para leer, no para tirarlo. Pero, como somos humanos....
7. Otro detalle no agradable es eso de la escala de grises. En la pantalla, ni el negro es tan negro ni el blanco es tan blanco. Todo es gris y las letras sobresalen algo más oscuras sobre un gris pronunciado. Es decir, las letras, al menos que usted las ponga algo grandes, no son tan legibles. Usted coloca un libro impreso al lado del equipo y cae en la cuenta inmediatamente de lo que le digo. No es que el equipo debiera tener luz. De hecho por no emitir luz es que resulta agradable a la vista, pero el fondo debiera ser más claro o las letras más oscuras para poder leerse con mayor facilidad.
Creo que es preciso esperar por una nueva versión del Sony Reader en la que sean corregidos estos defectos o pensar en una marca alternativa.
