As this is the brand-name battery that fits the Sony Alpha 100-200-300 (etc.) family of digital SLRs, it makes sense to buy the one produced by the maker of the camera. It holds a charge for a very decent time, but for a traveler, it is always advisable to have an extra battery, just in case.Customer Review: More Power

Bought one of these as a backup to the battery in my A700. Two weeks ago, I shot over 1400 photos on one battery.
I'm outdoors a lot, so I need to have a backup, just in case...and I do. Possibly might pick up another one for the long camping trips with no outlet around to recharge the battery.

I have the original and one extra for my backup. Even as a high end user I have never had to change out the battery during a shoot. I change them out after each shoot, recharging the used one and using the other to keep them rotated. I have had them for many months and have seen no loss in power. This is not a knock off brand of a battery for this camera. It has the Sony name on it so it is the same one that you would get if you bought it from Sony. The battery last a long time and have not had it fail me yet or run out during a shoot. This is well worth the money and I will be buying more from here if I need anymore. You will be very happy with this battery. It's great.
