Customer Review: Great Sound, But Not Much Durability

I am not an audiophile, but I purchased a good pair of ear phones a few years ago and I can't go back to phones with poor sound quality. That said, the MDR-D777lp was my first foray into the ear cup design after years of sticking with the in-ear phones. These headphones are comfortable to a point- after about an hour of usage, the cups may begin to irritate your ears. The sound quality is excellent as far as I can tell, but the ear cup design does not isolate outside noises very well. Avoid these if you are in a high noise environment. The main problem with these phones is that they are not sturdy. The mechanism that allows the headphones to be folded is pretty weak, and this eventually contributed to the demise of my pair. I listen to music before I sleep, and one night I rolled over onto the headphones and one side of the mechanism broke. I put the headphones down a few days later and the other side came out, leaving me with something that will not work. I enjoyed these, but now I'm forced to look for a new pair of headphones and I won't be purchasing the MDR-D777LP.
