Customer Review: Sony DVD Player
Summary: 4 Stars

I had last year's model Sony DVD player but it had a defect and the sound was coming in and out constantly and it was annoying to no end.
For the money it was easier to replace it then to try to fix it. Picture quality is great, sound it great. Only problem I see is there is no button on the remote to open/close the DVD slot. I have to manually hit the button on top of the unit. Has anyone else noticed this or did I get the wrong remote?!

Customer Review: Good 1080p DVD player

we love the DVD player, works great with our 1080p HDTV. only thing i don't like about it is there is no DVD slot open/close button on the Remote.

Great picture. Only draw back is there is no open or close drawer on the remote.

Customer Review: Good quality, feature loss
Summary: 4 Stars

This player was bought to replace an old Sony player from the dawn of the DVD age. Well, close anyway, it was nearly 10 years old. The old player was having trouble with a lot of discs.

This new player has been an incredible improvement in terms of disc playability and quality of playback. From that perspective I'm very happy with it.

But they left the eject button off of the remote! How silly is that? Fortunately the old remote from the last decade still works with the new player, and the eject button causes the new one to eject. The function is still in the player, so why not on the remote? My player sits on top of the TV, which is on a high shelf. It's challenging enough to get the disc in and out, but it's even less convenient to have to reach up to the top of the unit to hit the eject button.

Of less importance, but without a work around is the loss of slow and frame-by-frame playback. Fast and slow playback are a toggle on the same control, and the slow isn't. You can slow it down to about 3/4 speed. Big deal. I don't use slow very often, but it's nice when you can. I guess they figured we can always rip the disc to our computer if we really want to see detail.
