Customer Review: Kept skipping right out of the box

We had great hopes for this little DVD player as it synced right up with our Sony TV and looked great. Unfortunately, every DVD we played on it had these little skips - and not because the DVD's were dirty, as we are very careful about that. We thought perhaps it was that the player, with new technology, was more sensitive than our previous one and was picking up tiny flaws in the DVD's. Wrong. Two nights ago it started stalling every couple of scenes during The Wire (ARGHGHGHG) and my husband would have to back it up then start it again to get it to work. Then the sound started cutting out, then the sound stopped for good. We're both pretty technical so tried all the usual things to fix it, and even read the manual (!) wherein there is absolutely no reference at all to tracking problems. Perhaps you get what you pay for here and it is too much to hope that $55 buys a decent player. We, who are demons for punishment however, have asked Amazon for a replacement. Will report back after we find out if the new one will work properly.
