Do not buy Sony products. The last three Sony items I purchased were junk. While this camera works OK, it is not fully comparable with Windows 7 64-bit. They say it is if you install an update, but good luck finding a link on the Sony site that isn't a dead end. In addition, if you do not use a Sony disk in the camera, it will ALWAYS remind you that Sony disks are preferred. This interferes with quickly being able to take movies. The still-camera function is garbage: the pictures are blurry, low in light, and look like a 2 megapixel image. Another problem is the noise: the camera does not let you start it up without a loud chime startup jingle, and if you are trying to take movies quietly the noise will definitely distract and interfere with the moment. For instance, we try to take movies of our baby and toddler, but every time you turn on the camera the noise distracts them from the moment we want to record, rendering the camera useless. Also, if you want to film wildlife, the same thing: noise from the camera ruins the moment. Also, it may be a 'dvd camera', but you cannot just pop these disks into a dvd player, even a Sony dvd player: the format needs to be reinterpreted first. And like ia said before, if you have Windows 7 64 bit, good luck with that. All in all, I have bought a Sony surround sound system for my Sony TV (Bravia) and there are actually connectivity issues, Sony can't it right. I also got a Sony handheld camera that crapped out on my after 3 months with blurred images, a failed LCD screen, and a flash that takes 3 minutes to warm up between pictures. As a whole, Sony is no longer an electronics leader in that it cannot get its products integrated with others, the software they require is cumbersome and non-compatible, and they have absolutely awful tech support. I started buying Samsung products recently, and I have all the opposite reviews for those products. My tip: find a Samsung product and avoid Sony. I will never buy another Sony product and I have been their loyal customer for 15 years. I give up on them.
