Everything about the Sony Walkman is great EXPECT for the fact that you can not delete files directly off of the player itself -- you can only do that through the PC. So either you are good at sync-ing your files and keeping your library organized, OR you end up doing a lot of micro management. For podcasts and the like, this gets super tedious. Also - the customization of the interface is rather lacking. You do not have much of a choice for your background and screen saver.
But don't let those two things take away from how great of a player this really is. It looks great, easy to take anywhere and the screen is nice for the size. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

It's nice, but... I use it mainly for mp3s of radio shows, and talks, and mp4s (like univerity lectures) from iTunes. For mp3s it seems fine. But, I've found way too many videos on iTunes (even mp4's) that it just won't play. If it played most of the iTunes mp4 videos I've tried, I'd rate it a 5. Maybe a net book with Quicktime installed is the way to go for video lectures.Customer Review: Sony 8 GB Walkman

The first one I bought had to be returned when I accidentally downloaded a file not recognize by the player. The system crashed and never came up.
The second one worked great for 6 months. It was very light and had all the needed features for $90 (FM radio for the gym, 8GB, playlists, random play, video, etc). But, just today, the screen began flickering and went completely black... not to come back again.
So, great features... but the quality seems to be lacking

I ordered this Walkman after a lot of research and price comparison. I had another brand and took it back. This is the best one I have ever had and my son has the same one. The replay time is phenominal. The quality of sound and the ease of use make this a #1 choice.
